Seaton Tramway is sorry to announce that it is no longer able to run THE POLAR EXPRESSTM Tram Ride in 2020.

A Spokesperson said “After working endlessly throughout the year to provide a COVID secure event for your families to enjoy, we have always been optimistic that we would still be able to offer this magical Christmas experience. However the new national lockdown, along with the uncertainties surrounding what will be allowed after the 2nd December, means we are simply unable to set up and deliver this event.

The non-mainline heritage rail sector has taken steps to improve how it manages safety across its railways and has been praised by the Office of Rail and Road for how it has managed the reopening of its railways since the coronavirus pandemic.

The rail regulator says it supports the action the Heritage Railway Association (HRA) is taking in developing a strategic approach to increasing its capabilities. There has been significant improvements in its leadership to the sector, most visibly by developing and promoting proportionate ways to manage safety risk.

The 12th meeting of the UIC Covid-19 Task Force was attended remotely on 22 September 2020 by almost 60 participants from across the globe.

Marc Guigon, Chair of the Task Force, welcomed the participants and gave an update on the global situation, the latest figures related to the Task Force members, the latest RAILsilience guidance documents and future publications. He took the opportunity to welcome the newest member to the Task Force, SZCZ (Czech Infrastructure Manager).
